This Privacy Policy explains what information Stock Dashboard (“we”, “us”) handles when you use our website or Mac desktop app.
Summary — portfolio data stays on your device
We do not collect or store your portfolio on our servers. Stock quantities, buy prices, watchlists, and related settings are saved only on your device (browser local storage on the website, or your Mac’s app data folder in the desktop app). We do not operate a user account database and we do not receive your holdings in the cloud.

2. What we do not collect
- Share quantities, buy prices, or cost basis from your portfolio.
- Your watchlist contents as stored on your device.
- Personal identity beyond what you voluntarily email us.
On the public website, our backend is quote/news proxy only — requests to save holdings to our server are disabled.
3. What stays on your device only
- Portfolio & watchlist — symbols, quantities, buy prices, and P&L inputs you enter.
- Preferences — theme, region, currency, celebration settings, and similar choices.
Website: stored in your browser’s local storage. Clear it anytime via browser settings.
Mac app: stored in the app’s local user-data folder on your Mac. It is not uploaded to our servers.
4. What passes through our server (not stored as portfolio data)
To show live quotes and news, the app sends stock ticker symbols only (for example RELIANCE, TCS) to our proxy, which fetches public market data and headlines. Quantities and buy prices are never sent for this purpose.
Standard web hosting may temporarily log technical metadata (IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamp) for security and operations. We do not use these logs to build a portfolio profile.
5. Payments & contact
- Contributions — processed by Razorpay or other payment partners. We do not store your full card or UPI credentials.
- Email — if you contact us, we receive only what you choose to send.
- Analytics — if enabled in the future, only anonymized usage statistics (not portfolio contents).
6. How we use information
- To fetch public market quotes and news for symbols you view.
- To respond to support emails.
- To process voluntary contributions.
- To keep the Service secure and running.
We do not sell personal information.
7. Cookies & local storage
We use browser local storage to save your portfolio and settings on your device. Payment checkout may use cookies from the payment provider. We do not use advertising trackers for portfolio data.
8. Third-party services
Market data and news come from third-party sources (for example Yahoo Finance–related APIs and Google News RSS). Those requests include ticker symbols only, not your holdings. Their privacy policies apply to data they process.
9. Data retention
We do not retain portfolio data on our servers. Device storage lasts until you clear it. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request.
10. Your rights
Because portfolio data stays on your device, you can delete it anytime by clearing site data (web) or removing the app’s local data (Mac). For other privacy questions, email janmajaya19@gmail.com.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect the Service, but no system is 100% secure. Do not enter sensitive credentials beyond what the Service requires.
12. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
